Overview of Services

The Transgenic and Gene-Targeting Facility is an institutional core research support facility providing gene-modified mice and technical services to investigators at KUMC and the surrounding Kansas City research community. In addition, the Transgenic Facility is available for consultation and provision of special services.  The Facility is divided into two functional components, and services include:

Embryo Manipulation Core

  • Pronuclear injection of zygotes to generate transgenic mice
    • Includes injection of genome-editing elements (ZFNs, Cas9, TALENs) to effect deletions
  • Injection of blastocyst stage embryos with embryonic stem cells to generate chimeric mice
  • Sperm cryopreservation
  • Embryo cryopreservation
  • In vitro fertilization
  • Embryo transfer rederivation

Embryonic Stem Cell Core
